Privacy Policy for Clayhouse
Effective date: 2025-10-01 Last updated: 2026-09-02
Clayhouse is a studio-management app operated by Clayhouse Anacortes, LLC ("Clayhouse", "we", "us"). This policy explains what information the Clayhouse iOS app and its supporting service collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
If you have questions, contact us at ⟨jason@clayhouseanacortes.com⟩.
Who this applies to
Clayhouse is used by studio staff and by studio members and customers. You generally have an account because you are a member of, work at, or have booked a class or service with our studio.
Information we collect
Account information. We use Apple and Google Sign-In to authenticate you. When you sign in, we receive your name, email address, and a Google account identifier. We never receive or store your Google password.
Profile information. A display name, an optional biography, and an optional profile photo, if you choose to provide them.
Contact information. Your email address, one or more phone numbers, and your preferences for whether you wish to receive email or text notifications.
Studio activity. Records related to your use of the studio: ceramic pieces you make and their status, kiln firings your pieces are part of, photographs of pieces and firings, physical tag assignments, studio check-ins, class enrollments, reservations, and consignment or sales records for work you list.
Payment records. When you pay for a membership, class, or purchase, we record the amount, date, payment method, and a transaction reference. Card payments are processed by Square and Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number, CVV, or bank account details.
Messages. If we exchange text messages with you, we retain the message content, the phone number involved, the direction, and delivery status, so that studio staff have an accurate record of communications.
Device information for notifications. If you enable push notifications, we store a device token issued by Apple so we can deliver notifications to your device.
Limited technical information. When photos are uploaded, we record the IP address and browser or device identifier associated with the upload, for security and troubleshooting.
What we do not collect. The app contains no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs. We do not track you across other apps or websites. We do not collect precise location data.
How we use information
To provide the app: signing you in, showing your pieces, firings, classes, and account status
To notify you about things you asked to be notified about, such as a firing being unloaded
To process and record payments, memberships, and consignment payouts
To communicate with you about the studio and respond to your questions
To keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and diagnose problems
To meet our legal, tax, and accounting obligations
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Text messages
If you provide a phone number and have not opted out, the studio may send you text messages about your pieces, firings, classes, and account. Message and data rates may apply. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message, or by asking studio staff to disable texts for your account. We retain a record of messages already sent.
Push notifications
Push notifications are delivered through Apple's Push Notification service. You can turn them off at any time in the iOS Settings app, or within the app's notification settings. Turning them off does not delete your account.
Service providers we share information with
We share only what is necessary for these providers to perform their function:
Google: sign-in. Receives your authentication request; we receive your name, e +mail address, and account identifier.
Apple: sign-in and push notification delivery. Receives your authentication request, your device token, and the content of notifications sent to you.
Twilio: text messaging. Receives the phone number and the message content.
Square: payment processing, catalog, and staff scheduling. Receives the payment and order details you provide at checkout.
Stripe: payment processing. Receives the payment details you provide at checkout.
Squarespace: online storefront and product listings. Receives product and order information.
Our hosting provider: running the service. Stores the app's data at rest.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights and safety of our members, staff, or the public.
How long we keep information
We keep studio records — including pieces, firings, payments, and message history — for as long as your account is active and thereafter as needed for legitimate business, tax, and legal purposes. You may ask us to delete your information, subject to records we are required to retain.
Your choices and rights
You may:
Access or correct your information — through the app, or by contacting us
Delete your account and personal information — by contacting us at ⟨jason@clayhouseanacortes.com⟩
Opt out of text messages — reply STOP, or ask staff
Turn off push notifications — in iOS Settings or in the app
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act or the General Data Protection Regulation, including the right to request a copy of your information or to object to certain processing. Contact us and we will respond as required by applicable law.
Security
We protect information in transit using HTTPS, store credentials and secrets in encrypted form, and restrict access to studio records to authorized staff. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and to address problems promptly.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by email.
