Intro To Tile Making - 10/3 & 10/17
$145.00

Saturdays: 10/3/26, 10 AM-12PM & 10/17/26 10AM-2PM

Ever wanted to make your own tile for a household project or custom art installation? This is the workshop for you!

In this two-session workshop, we’ll cover everything you need to know to get started making your own custom tiles and designs!

In the first session, students will learn a bit about the history of tile, explore a variety of tile types and styles as well as the best techniques for shaping and cutting their own tiles from wet clay while preventing common issues like warpage.

In the second session, students will learn about design and how to create their very own repeating pattern (existing patterns will also be provided for anyone who wishes to use them). We’ll go over the process for transferring designs onto the bisqued tiles made in the first session and discuss resists, glazing tools and other techniques.

Students will come away from the class with the skills to make small or large batches of custom tiles, plus a set of 4 functional tiles that can be laid (in a surface of their choice), assembled as a wall hanging, or kept as a set and used as coasters, paperweights, etc!

No prior clay experience needed. Workshop is suitable for children ages 12+ accompanied by a parent or guardian.

$145 per person

Want to complete a larger tile project? Participants who complete this workshop will be eligible for self-guided studio time in our studio via hourly or monthly memberships (spaces limited). All of our memberships include use of studio glazes and tools, plus hobbyist-level bisque and glaze firing services.
